Park City Run (23rd November 2014)

Hello lovely people!

Just had my Park City 10km run yesterday.
Had to get up by 5:00am cuz I aimed to reach Desa Park by 6am so I could join the warm up session.
Unfortunately the novio and I both woke up late so we only arrived at about 6:15am.
By the time we found parking, it was already 6:25am so we took a fast stroll to get to the International School of Park City, where the starting point is.

But surprisingly, we still managed to get to the 3rd row of the starting point.
Are most people latecomers too? LOL.#MalaysianStyle

At 6:40am, we were flagged off.

#My trusty Nike Flyknit which I've used for most of my jogging sessions.
It's the 2nd time I'm using it for a race.
Everytime I look at the colour, I feel so HAPPY! :)

It was quite a hilly run.
(But not as hilly as the 2xu Compression run which really killed my legs!)
I will not forget at one point, I think probably the 5th km or so, there was a REALLY hilly slope that was so steep I dreaded the whole path. As far as my legs could carry me, I ran.

But I had to stop a couple of times cuz my legs were like all wobbly and jelly-ish. Haha.
Just somehow had a  rather lacklustre stamina on that very morning.

#Here, I was actually approaching the finishing line with every ounce of energy that I had left.

The novio was already nowhere to be seen by the 4th km but when I was nearing the end, I saw him at the turning of a corner.
In the end, our time difference was only 2 minutes, with him being slightly ahead of me :)

#HappyFaces at the finishing line
All sweaty and still panting cuz I just reached the line when he grabbed me to have a pic taken!
 LOL. Sabarlah bang.

Got my results from the official website.
Clocked in a nett time of 1:08:51 for 10km this time round.
Ranked 63/563 for my Women Category.
Did better than the 2XU run and Penang marathon in 2012, so I'm quite pleased.
But definitely still trying to aim for the 60 minute mark!

Kudos to the novio too for doing well with a timing of 1:06:48 for his first ever run. Yay!

Keep going.

Working out to pig out

I'll admit I'm generally a lazy person when it comes to working out. I guess the thought of doing squats, cardios, core, and all those fitness thingamagic just doesn't really motivate me at all.
I do know of people like my dad and bro who just loveeee going for a jog and to many, jogging or working out is their form of de-stressing.

I'd much rather sleep. Yup, sleep is my ultimate form of de-stressing.

I've always been told I was skinny (yeah, nobody really sees the belly fat that piles up underneath though) and I guess I just kinda took it in my stride. Over the years, my weight has also always fluctuated between 1 kg or 3-4 kg at most, so sometimes I tend to take things for granted.

But as most of would know by now, being skinny DOES NOT equal being fit. One can look skinny without being fit at all. This was always at the back of my head but lately, the good news is, the thought is getting translated into action.

And perhaps, my new Nike kicks is also a form of motivation for me? haha.

Saw this online first and it was love at first sight.
Turquoise has and always will be my favourite colour :)
So when I went to the store and saw this on the shelves, I was superbly excited!
Tried it on.
Told myself: "I already have a pair of Nike training shoes what..." to de-convince myself.
But I couldn't get the image of the shoes out of my head! Argh.

So a week later, went back to the store again and to cut the long story short, ze novio made an offer to me and said,"OK, I will get it for you but this is your birthday present."
Say what? My birthday was still 1.5 months away! And was I sure I really wanted this as my be-early present?hahaha
Dilemma dilemma.
Huge contemplation went on but you can probably already see what was my decision.
LOL
Thank you my novio! #bestnovioever

This Nike flyknit is supposed to act like a "muscle trainer" for your foot; which is why it hugs soooo tight as though you're just wearing a pair of socks.
The maximum kilometers you should wear with the flyknit is supposedly only 7km. Otherwise, your feet will start hurting.
No regrets though. It's a great pair of joggers.

So yea,I'm trying to get my fitness level to improve by a whole lot. Not just to cut down on fats but to get fit for health's sake! :)
For the past week, I've been going to the park twice for a jog.
Each time, I did 3 rounds around the 1.3km lake = 3.9 km
Good start for me. Yay!

When I can't make it to the park, I'll try to get at least a bit of workout done at home which includes some crunches, cardio and weights.
So yea, lets see how the results turn out SOON, hopefully!:)
(Will probably post pics of before and after progress of my body)

Yeap yeap yeap.
KEEP GOING!

Keep shining like stars!

7 months

It has been 7 months. 7 LONG months since my last blog post here.
WOW! Just wow.

So I've finally came to the conclusion that the reason why I haven't been posting enough is this:
I always try to write too much and then I'll save it in a draft thinking I'll finish the post later.
But the later always never comes. Cuz once I decide to blog again, I will have fresh, new ideas and then the older post ends up getting neglected! ><

So right now I have a lot of pretty good drafts (in my opinion) on current issues but that aren't so "current" or up to date anymore. lol.
There's even one on Cory Monteith, GLEE actor's passing and my thoughts on it but obviously never got around to finishing it.

In fact, typing this just makes me want to blog about the recent tragedy surrounding the Malaysian airline crash in Ukraine.#mh17
It truly is a matter close to my heart cuz it involves my nation and the precious, innocent lives of those who were on board. Sigh. I do pray that the peace of God will comfort the families of those who lost a loved one during this difficult time. <3
There's just so much chaos happening in the world that at times, I just do not really know how to respond. But empathy is one thing we should never lose.

This time, since I've decided to TRY blogging again, to keep things going I'm going to keep things SIMPLE and lighthearted!
And I mean really simple.

Tadah.

An updated version of me.
Taken very recently at Shangri-La hotel, celebrating ze novio's birthday over a great buffet :)

A teeth-baring version. :D
Kthxbai.

There's so much gloom and doom in this world so remember to let your light shine and always stay POSITIVE!
